PURPOSE:To provide a device of high reliability by so controlling speeds that, when there is a speed change in an optical-system-driving motor, the output of an amplifier changes according to said change, to allow the speed of a photoreceptor- driving motor to follow up the speed change of the optical-system-driving motor. CONSTITUTION:An amplifier 32 which amplifies the output based on the 1st speed detector 28, and permits selection and setting of the gain corresponding to a variable magnification mode from plural gains according to the variable magnification mode so that the speed of a photoreceptor-driving motor 27 is set constant irrespective of the difference in the variable magnification modes, and a comparator 33 which compares the output from said amplifier and the output based on the 2nd speed detector 29, and inputs the speed control signal outputted by the result of said comparison to the above-described photoreceptor-driving motor, are provided. When the speed of an optical-system-driving motor 26 changes owing to a certain cause during the use of the electrophotographic copier, the output of the amplifier 32 changes according to the change thereof, and in the end, the speed of the motor 27 is so controlled as to follow up the speed of the motor 26.
