Abstract
PURPOSE:To recover surely toughness of a heat affected zone having been embrittled by welding at correct temp. by induction heating a welding heat-affected zone generated in welding by high-frequency induction heating and maintaining the same at tempering temp. CONSTITUTION:The part 3 having been degraded toughness and hardened by receiving thermal influence as a result of welding the objects 2 to be welded such as carbon steel is tempered by a high-frequency induction coil 4 provided near the same, whereby it is tempered together with a region 5. The temp. of each part of this time is as shown by a curve 6 and the region 5 enters a suitable temp. region 7 for tempering. After said part is tempered by the above-mentioned high-frequency heating, it is again welded for the remaining part. According to this method, the operations for controlling the tempering range, temp. and time are feasible as well, and there is the effect of permitting the decrease in residual stress by shifting the residual stress of welding generated in the shape discontinuous part to the other part.
