Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled dye having excellent compatibility with various resins, giving uniform coloring, and suitable as a coloring agent of the toner of an electrophotography, by dispersing a specific chromium complex salt dye in a water- containing alcohol, and treating with a proton donor.
CONSTITUTION: A 1:2-type chromium complex salt dye of formula I (A+ is alkali metal ion or ammonium ion) is dispersed in mixture of a 1W3C alcohol and water (pref. alcohol content of 30W50%). A proton donor such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, etc. is added to the dispersion, and stirred for 3W5hr at room temperature. After the treatment, the mixture is poured into water, and the counter ion is converted to H+ ion, thereby giving the objective dye of formula II.
EFFECT: High color value and excellent electric characteristics.
