Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a wick having a high combustion efficiency, by forming a sheet by spreading slurry made principally of glass fiber or the like having a particular diameter into the form of paper, coating an adhesive over the surface of the sheet, rounding the sheet into a cylindrical form, and then drying and solidifying the cylindrical sheet.
CONSTITUTION: A sheet 1 is made by spreading slurry consisting principally of heat-resisting fiber or crystallizable ceramic fiber having a diameter of 3μ or less into the form of paper. The sheet 1 thus obtained is coated with an adhesive consisting principally of an inorganic adhesive agent, and then it is rounded into a cylindrical form. A wick can be obtained by drying and solidifying the cylindrical sheet through application of heat. Alternatively, it is also possible to manufacture a wick by at first making a sheet 1, coating an adhesive consisting principally of an inorganic adhesive agent over the surface of the sheet 1, solidifying the sheet 1 through application of heat after shaping the same into a cylindrical form, and keeping the cylindrical form by attaching an adhesive tape to the joining portion. By use of such a wick, it is enabled to draw up oil sufficiently and to raise the combustion efficiency.
