Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the water level with high reliability by a method wherein in a resistor container a resistor is placed with a portion thereof dipped in water, and the electric resistance across said resistor is measured. CONSTITUTION:Because the upper and lower ends of a resistor container 2 communicate with a pressure vessel 1 respectively, the level of the water in the resistor container 2 is constantly the same as that of the water in the pressure vessel 1. Accordingly, the lower part of the resistor 6 in the resistor container 2 is dipped in the water and the upper prt is exposed above the water surface. Because a conductive path is formed also in the water around the portion of the resistor 6 dipped in the water, the electric resistance across the resistor 6 varies in accordance with the length of the portion thereof dipped in the water, i.e., the level of the water in the resistor container 2. Accordingly, measuring the electric resistance across the resistor 6 by using a water level detecting circuit 12 permits the level of the water in the resistor container 2 to be detected.
