Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a uniform toner layer to be formed on a toner supporting member by the constitution in which the opening provided below a developer replenishing vessel is opened and closed by a shutter and the toner near the opening is fed into the developing vessel by an agitating member while the shutter is open. CONSTITUTION:A toner replenishing device is divided to a developer vessel part R, a replenishing vessel part S, and a replenishing cartridge part C. When a sensor S-1 detects the toner deficiency in the vessel R, a shutter 30 formed in one piece with a revolving shaft 31 rotates to form an opening, through which the toner T is supplied and dropped from the vessel S into the vessel R. An agitating member 22 mounted to an agitating shaft 21 is provided in the upper part of the opening, and at the time when said member 22 turns in the arrow direction, only the part which has good fluidity in the axial direction of the toner is scraped down, whereby the toner is replenished uniformly in the axial direction over the entire surface of the sleeve 12.
