Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively prevent dirt on the reverse side of the transfer member, by providing a conductive member which is almost at an earth potential so that it contacts with the transfer roller on the transfer member carried passage between the charge holding member and the transfer roller. CONSTITUTION:The drumlike conductive member 3 which constitutes a photosensitive drum 1 and is provided with a charge holding member 2 such as Se, etc. on its circumference exposes its one end or both the end peripheral part on the recording paper carrier passage. And, this conductive member 3 is grounded through the resistor 4. The transfer roller 5 is covered with a low resistor 9 having elasticity so that it contacts with the conductive member 3 through the insulating layer 8. A transfer bias electric wire 11 is connected through the resistor 10 between the mandrel 6 of the transfer roller 5 and the ground, and the transfer bias voltage of the opposite polarity to that of the toner image formed on the photosensitive drum 1 is applied to the mandrel 6. In this way, it is possible to effectively prevent a toner image on the photosensitive drum from adhering onto the transfer roller.
