Abstract

PURPOSE: To constitute a passive and noninductive sensor, by arranging optical fibers on one line with a slight gap left on arms of tuning forks which are arranged on one line and are different in natural frequency and by providing light emitting units and photodetecting units in one end faces and the other respectively.
CONSTITUTION: Tuning forks 11W1m different in natural frequency are arranged on one line, and optical fibers 21 and 22 opposite to each other with a slight gap left between their end faces are provided in the upper end parts of arms 11a and 11b of tuning fork 11 through supporting pieces 11c and 11d. Optical fiber transmission line 2 is formed by similar optical fibers 21, 22,...2n. Light is transmitted from light emitting unit 3 provided in one end face of transmission line 2 to transmission line 2 and is detected by photodetecting unit 4 provided in the other end face. In case that explosion occurs near this sensor, a vibrating light signal enters to photodetecting unit 4 due to vibration of arms of tuning forks. By frequency analysis of the output, the tuning fork in the corresponding position can be specified to find the sound source position. Thus, the passive and noninductive sensor can be constituted.
