Abstract

PURPOSE: To make a press small and simple by encircling a part of a shaft having beforehand beeen made to form a cavity, filling powder metal in this cavity, compressing the same to make a preform which is in one body with the shaft, and sintering this preform by heating.
CONSTITUTION: When a shaft 21 having beforehand been manufactured is inserted into the through-hole 22 of a lower punch 13 and the lower punch 13 is lowered by lowering a ram 18, a cavity is formed by encircling a part of the shaft 21 between the end face 13a of the lower punch 13 and a die 15. Powder metal 11 is filled in this cavity, and an upper punch 13 is lowered to compression-mold the powdered metal 11, whereby the preform is made in one body with the shaft 21. If this preform is heated in a continuous sintering furnace, the powder particles of the powdered metal 11 are melt-stuck to themselves, thus resulting in decreased volume. Therefore, the force tightening the shaft 21 encircled by a disc body 19 is caused to act, and the disc body 19 is secured to the shaft 21, whereby a disc body W with shaft is obtained.
