Abstract

PURPOSE: To obviate early damaging of a sizing tool by oscillating an outer race holding part within the predetermined angle range centering at the center of the arc in the axial line direction in sizing ball grooves.
CONSTITUTION: An outer race (a) of a constant-velocity joint is fixed in an outer race holding part 8. With the axial line of said part 8 aligned to the axial line of a ball holding part 1, the part 1 is moved until all sizing balls 5 are opposed inward in all ball grooves a3. The center of the imaginary circle connecting the centers of the balls 5 is aligned to the center A of the arc in the axial line direction of the ball grooves a3. A hydraulic cylinder 4 is moved in its contraction direction to move a mandrel 3 leftward, move split sleeves 7 outward and move the balls 5 in an expanding position, whereby the balls 5 are fitted into the ball grooves a3. The part 1 and the part 8 are located in the same direction around the respective axial lines; at the same time, the base plate supporting the part 8 is oscillated within an angle θ range around the center A in the arc in the axial direction, whereby the sizing is accomplished.
