Abstract
PURPOSE: To effectively and appropriately effect taking up of a web by friction drive by specifying the construction of a core holder.
CONSTITUTION: A core holder 15 includes a pair of fixed discs 3, and between the discs 3, a seal colar 4, an O ring 5, a colar 7, a pair of friction rings 6 each provided with a lug 16, a rubber tube 13, and a core fastening colar 14 which is provided with a window 19, a hub 11 with a claw 12 and a leaf spring 10. A shaft 1 is driven to rotate at a rotational frequency higher than a predetermined taking up rotational frequency in order to take up a web such as of paper around a core 17 fastened to the core holder 15 by means of the claw 12. In this case, the core holder 15 integral with the core 17 is slipped on the shaft 1 by a difference between the rotational frequency of the core 17 corresponding to the speed of the web being delivered and the rotational frequency of the shaft 1 which rotates at a higher speed than the core 17, and the web is taken up by a friction torque produced by such slip. The taking up torque can be freely adjusted by adjustment of pressure of air in the rubber tube 13, and the frictional taking up can be effected smoothly without torque irregularties.
