Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent seizure due to anomalous contact between the end surface of a cross shapedjoint and the inside bottom of a bearing by forming notched grooves in the inside bottom of a bearing of a cross joint. CONSTITUTION:At least six or more notched grooves (e) gradually extending from the inside (x) to the outside (y) of the inside bottom B of a bearing in contact with the end surface A of a cross shaft are formed, in which the area of the notched groove (e) on the outside (y) is 1/6 or more of the area of the outside (y) of the inside bottom B divided into three by a circumference passing the points (a) and (b) obtained by dividing the area between the inside (x) and the outside (y) of the inside bottom B, whereby the area of the contact between the end surface A and the inside bottom B is made gradually smaller from the inside (x) to the outside (y). Thus, the contact area is decreased and the generation of frictional heat can be reduced even when a force is applied to the said contact surface from the inside (x) to the outside (y) and particularly the outside of the end surface A and the outside (x) of the inside bottom B turn with a contact by a strong pressure.
