Abstract
PURPOSE: When a plurality of compounds are added to a graft copolymer latex and the suspension polymerization is effected, a phenolic compound is added to produce a resin with high heat stability and impact strength.
CONSTITUTION: To a rubberlike polymer latex such as of polybutadiene or a graft copolymer latex resulting from the polymerization of an ethylenic monomer such as styrene or a mixture thereof in the presence of a rubberlike polymer latex, are added (A) an acidic substance or electrolyte such as disproportionated rosin soap, (B) an ethylenic monomer such as styrene or a mixture thereof and (C) a suspension polymerization stabilizer and the suspension polymerization is effected wherein on the way of the polymerization, preferably when the conversion of monomers exceeds 50%, 0.001wt% of a phenolic compound such as 2,6-di-t-butylphenol is added, e.g., in the form of an aqueous suspension or a solution in a solvent.
