Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture carbon black containing lesser amounts of foreign matter (coarse grains content specified by JIS-K-1469) by controlling the amount of carbon black contained in the air to be supplied to a classifier to a specific value.
CONSTITUTION: Carbon black stored in a tank 1 is suspended in the flow of air supplied or sucked through an air inlet path 6 and then supplied to a classifier 3 by a powder supplier 2, whree foreign matters present in the carbon black are discharged from a discharge path 8. Then, the carbon black is sent to a carbon black separating collector 4 where carbon black is recovered through a discharge path 10 (9 is an air discharge path). For an air to be supplied to the said clssifier 3, the carbon black content of the air should be preferably 0.01W0.8kg/m3.
