Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of wrinkle on a metal strip in the heat treatment such as heating or cooling of the metallic strip while conveying it floatingly, by conveying the strip while incurvating the part, where strain is liable to be formed, from a heating zone to a cooling zone. CONSTITUTION:A metallic strip 6 is heat treated such as annealing etc. while being conveyed floatingly by the injection of gas through a heating zone 35, and a cooling zone 36. At the curved operation part 7a, 15a on the boundary between the heating zone 35 and the cooling zone 36, the strip 6 is incurvated in the conveying direction. The strip is incurvated by the injection pressure difference of heating gas and cooling gas injected from nozzle groups 23, 26 of supporting nozzle section 21 and a nozzle group 28 of dynamic pressure nozzle section 22 provided respectively at the heating zone and the cooling zone. The nozzles 23, 26 are arranged in V-shape in the longitudinal direction, and the nozzles 28 are arranged densely at the lateral sides nd coarsely at the central part. Hereby the buckling stress is made larger than the thermal stress, preventing the formation of wrinkle on the strip.
