Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise the efficiency of combustion by accelerating firing at the time of spark discharge by ionization of the fuel molecules of mixed gas by the irradiation of photo energy to the mixed gas. CONSTITUTION:When current flows in the primary winding of the ignition coil 19 by the contact breaker 18 of the ignition circuit 16, a spark discharge occurs in the main discharge gap 10 and the light source discharge gap 11 and electric energy charged in the condenser 22 is discharged to the ignition plug 15. During discharge from the high-voltage power source circuit 20, a specific wave length of photo energy is emitted from the light source discharge gap 11 and then irradiated onto the main discharge gap 10 through the light permeable body 7. Thus, the fuel molecules are ionized to form radical gases which accelerate the firing of mixed gas.
