Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the size and cost of light circulator, by providing two polarizing splitters, and disposing 45° Faraday rotator and 45° optical active rotator between these polarizing splitters.
CONSTITUTION: When light L1 enters from a port Q5, linear polarization components P, S of the light L1 are emitted from ports Q12 and Q14 of a polarizing splitter E1, respectively, and, through 45° Faraday rotator A and 45° optical active rotator B, linear polarization components P', S' after 90° rotation of said linear polarization components P, S enter from ports Q14, Q12 of a polarizing splitter E2, respectively, and the composite light L1' of linear polarization components P', S' is obtained from a port Q6 without loss with respect to the light L. Similarly, L2', L3', L4' are obtained from L2, L3, L4 without loss. Since such result may be obtained from one 45° Faraday rotator, the constitution is miniaturized, and the cost may be reduced.
