Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove copper sulfide deposited on the surface of the title copper- activated sulfide-type fluorescent substance completely, and to obtain the emission of high brightness, by washing the substance with a non-toxic aqueous solution of an oxidizing agent.
CONSTITUTION: A sulfide-type fluorescent substance comprising calcined active copper as an activator, emitting light in an electric field, is washed with an aqueous solution of an oxidizing agent, e.g. hedrogen peroxide, once to several times.
EFFECT: The reflection spectrum of the substance (a) treated by this method is much better than those (b) before washing and (c) treated by the conventional method.
