Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable feedback control of ignition time for optimal operation of an engine, by detecting the acceleration of vibration of the body of the engine to determine its torque.
CONSTITUTION: An acceleration detector 2 is fixed by bonding, screwing or the like on a side wall of an internal combustion engine 1 to detect the acceleration in the rotating direction of a crankshaft. The ignition time of an ignition unit 4 is determined by a calculator 3 from the acceleration detected by the detector 2, intake pressure P', rotational frequency N of the engine and other engine conditions. Feedback control of the ignition time can be effected only by attaching the acceleration detector 2 to the body 1 of the engine.
