Abstract

PURPOSE: To stabilize the starting of an inverter, by making a load current supply circuit of a main thyristor bridge and connecting parallel circuits of choppers and auxiliary thyristor bridges between two auxiliary thyristors.
CONSTITUTION: A capacitor 17 is discharged when choppers 13, 14 and an auxiliary thyristor 55 are closed simultaneously with another auxiliary thyristor 11 as main thyristors 21, 26 remain closed. As a result, the current of the thyristor 21 becomes zero, a load current passes through the auxiliary thyristor 11 and commutation is finished. The load current is detected by a current detector. After the main thyristor 21 is opened, the choppers 13, 14 are turned off. At that time, the capacitor 17 is charged. Closing another main thyristor 22 in that state, the auxiliary thyristors 11, 55 are quickly turned off because the voltage of the capacitor 17 is applied in reverse to them.
