Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the diameter of beam spot by constructing main focusing lens with the five electrodes then bringing the potential of each electrode from three previous electrodes toward fluorescent face side sequentially low, high, low, middle, and high voltage or middle, high, low, middle and high voltage.
CONSTITUTION: Previous three pole section is formed with cathode 1, control grid 2 and acceleration electrode 3. Then complex focusing lens is formed with first anode 4, second anode 5, third anode 6, fourth anode 7 and fifth anode 8. Low potential is applied on first and third anode 4, 6 while high potential is applied on second and fifth anode 5, 8 and middle potential is applied on fourth anode 7. Middle potential is applied on first anode 4 in place of said low potential. With such structure astigmation of focusing lens can be suppressed considerably and the diameter of beam spot can be reduced.
