Abstract

PURPOSE: To completely remove barium in a getter as coated on electrodes in a cathode ray tube by providing an annular high melting point auxiliary metal electrode around one intermediate electrode excluding the last electroded applied with an anode voltage in the vicinity of the inner wall of the neck of the tube.

Thus, the potential of the inner wall of the neck 5 is lowered, and barium in a getter coated on the electrode is completely removed to thereby obtain the cathode ray tube having no initital glow.
