Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the corrosion and thermal impact resistances of a Cr or Al coating layer by previously coating the surface of a Ni- or Co-base heat resistant alloy with a mixt. of ceramics, Cr or Al, and metal powder metallic-binding to the alloy.
CONSTITUTION: By spraying or other method the surface of a Ni- or Co-base heat resistant alloy is previously coated with a mixt. of ceramics such as MgO or ZrO2, Cr or Al, and metal powder such as Cr, Al, Ni or Co powder or Ni-Cr or Ni-Al alloy powder metallic-binding to the alloy. Cr is then coated onto this coated layer by a CVD method, or Al by a pack method. By this method the reaction of C in the alloy and Cr can be inhibited to prevent deterioration in corrosion resistance since a ceramics layer is present. This method is applied to parts such as a gas turbine and a jet engine which are exposed to hot corrosive gas.
