Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture cold rolled steel sheet excellent in moldability and low in solid solution carbon content, by heating the cold rolled steel sheet while being uncoiled, and by soaking, then by annealing the coiled cold rolled steel sheet. CONSTITUTION:A cold rolled steel sheet is heated at about 600 deg.C by a direct burner etc. without being subjected to electrolytic cleaning or removal of rolling mill lubricant. The rolling mill lubricant residued on the surface of the steel sheet is decomposed and removed. Then the steel sheet is soaked at a temp. 580-850 deg.C in an atmosphere of H2-N2, thereby reducing the oxide formed on the surface thereof. The steel sheet is coiled once again at a temp. 630-720 deg.C, and the coil is charged into an H2-N2 atmosphere and is cooled at a cooling rate, which gives product of sufficiently low in solid solution carbon content, i.e., not larger than 6 deg.C/min., to 300 deg.C, then at a rate not larger than 75 deg.C/hr. in the temp. range 300-150 deg.C. Hereby steel sheet with clean surface and excellent moldability is manufactured by annealing for a short time, without using batch type annealing furnace.
