Abstract

PURPOSE:A plasma ignition system devised to ensure a plasma ignition by the sure electric discharge from a condenser for reducing the number of parts and the cost and small-sizing in the whole body. CONSTITUTION:This system is composed of several ignition plugs 6 of plasma- shaped gas injection provided for each with a small bore opened on one end and discharging electrodes 6a and 6b to form a discharge line inside the bore, an ignition coil 3 with a high-tension winding 3b to generate a high voltage intermittently, and a distributor 5 to connect the one end of the winding 3b to each pair of discharging electrodes 6a and 6b selectively. Here, a condenser 20 of a comparatively high capacity is provided to each ignition plug 6 independently to be in parallel between each pair of electrodes 6a and 6b. A highly conductive wire is used for a line 21 connecting between the one end of the condenser 20 and the disccharging electrode 6a. This construction serves to attain the expected purpose, since the condenser 20 is directly connected with the ignition plug 6.
