Abstract

This striking produces slacking reaction of quicklime with water in the ground and the reaction lowered rapidly water content ratio, by which compaction is promoted. At the same time, swelling power of quicklime at its slacking strongly compresses ground, which also facilitates compaction through absorption of water content in the ground into piles. Thus the ground is strengthened and the properties of weak ground themselves are to be eliminated.
