PURPOSE: To prevent the surface oxidization of the extruded material, and to cool the dies, etc., by spraying the liquiefied carbon dioxide on the surface of high temperature extruded material, at the extrusion forming work for the aluminum alloy, and by rapidly cooling the high temperature extruded material with the mixture of low temperature carbon dioxide gas and snowy dry ice generated from above liquefied carbon dioxide.
CONSTITUTION: Plural number of nozzles 11 for spraying the liquefied carbon dioxide to neighborhood of the exit port of the dies 3 of the aluminum alloy extruder are installed; the liquefied carbon dioxide is sprayed from these nozzles 11 on the surface of high temperature material 4 to be extruded out of the dies 3; hereby, a mixture of low temperature carbon dioxide gas and snowy dry ice possessing the sublimation temperature of about -79°C. Since thus generated fine particles of dry ice together with the high speed gas stream contact with the surface of the high temperature extruded material 4 with the pressure, the heat transmission coefficient is very high, and the extruded material 4 is cooled rapidly. By installing the pathways 17W22 for low temperature carbon dioxide gas, the dies, etc., can be cooled, too.
