Abstract

PURPOSE: To uniformly cool an ingot by providing porous discharging and spraying nozzles having plural discharge holes and provided with the discharge holes in such a way as to make the part near the nozzle centerlines vacant within a gas and liquid spray range in diagonal line directions in the section of the material to be cooled.
CONSTITUTION: In secondary cooling of continuous cooling, porous discharging and spraying nozzles 5 having multiple discharge holes 7 are installed in diagonal line directions in the section of a material 4 to be cooled. The holes 7 are of such a shape at which the spread in the width direction of sprays makes the part near the centerlines of the nozzle 5 vacant. Here, the two adjacent surfaces excluding the corner parts of the material 4 are cooled simultaneously by the nozzle 5.
