Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a container which has a high transparency and whose shoulder is prevented from getting unnecessarily thick, by extending the shoulder of a cylindrical bottomed polyester resin piece in the axial direction to reduce its thickness and then blow-molding the piece.
CONSTITUTION: A polyester resin pipe 11 is fitted on a mandrel 21 and heated again. The upper end of the pipe is pressed by a die 22 so that the pipe is provided with a bottom 12. The bottomed pipe 13 is secured by a split die 23, a core 27 located a nozzle and a preforming chuck block 24 having a heater 26 on the bottom. The mandrel 21 is elevated to extend the pipe 13 in the axial direction to obtain an extended pipe 17 having almost the same length as a final product. The part of the pipe 17 corresponding to the shoulder of the final product is heated by the heater 26. The split die 23 and the core 27 are moved back relatively to the block 24 to extend said part of the pipe 17 in the axial direction to reduce the thickness of the part 18. The pipe 17 is then extended in the radial direction by blow molding. A container 30 is thus manufactured.
