Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a fork-type optical chopper, whose excitation power and oscillation leakage and variation of oscillation frequency by aging are small, by attaching a shutter inside a beam section of a fork oscillator having 2 beam sections, so that incoming light can be screened. CONSTITUTION:Shutters are attached to inside of respective fork beam sections 22 in such a manner that when the beam sections 22 are not vibrating there is a gap allowing a beam-like light signal to pass through and that the beam sections are crossing each other without contacting each other in the condition that they are making maximum displacement inwardly. The light signal is concentrated by No.1 lens so that the focus comes to the center of the gap of the shutters, and then, it is converted into a horizontal light by No.2 lens. Since, in this mechanism, light is screened when the beam sections 22 are displaced inwardly by eual amount, each beam section is required to be displaced by only 1/2 of displacement required for intermitting the light signal, and therefore, it is possible to reduce exciting power, oscillation leakage and variation of oscillation frequency by aging.
