Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the filling of the pressure chamber with ink eliminating the excessive dripping of ink with a limited contamination at the nozzle surface through an accurate ink jetting action by establishing an air feeding means one end of which is opened in the atmosphere while the other end thereof is opened within the liquid in an ink cartridge. CONSTITUTION:A pipe P serving as the air feeding means pierces and is secured with one end thereof opened in a buffer area RB and the other end thereof into an ink area RA with a given inner diameter nozzle AN. The height hA and the inner diameter of the nozzle AN are set to meet the requirements of the formula as shown. This allows the water level 42 to be maintained at a position higher than a nozzle 14 of the head 10, thereby preventing the meniscus of the ink I from becoming convex even in the case of a pen containing a cartridge 40 connected to the head 10. Thus, external force other than the pressure pulse applied on the pressure chamber prevents the causing of excessive dripping of the ink I. In addition, the rise in the temperature allows the ink I to flow into the buffer area RB through the pipe P, thereby checking excessive dripping of ink from the nozzle 14.
