Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture peilets having superior hot strength and usable in a blast furnace without requiring roasting by mixing fine iron ore with gypsum-free cement clinker poweder and Ca(NO2)2 as a binder.
CONSTITUTION: Fine iron ore is further pulverized so that about 20% of the ore is left on a 40μ screen. 100 parts of this pulverized ore are mixed with about 10 parts of fine powder of gypsum-free Portland cement clinker, and to this mixt. is added Ca(NO2)2 in an amt. corresponding to 2W6% of the clinker powder together with an adequate amt. of water. They are well kneaded, pelletized, and naturally cured for about 1 day, thus simply manufacturing iron ore pellets having superior water resistance in storage and high cold and hot strength, and well usable in a blast furnace.
