Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a piezoelectric porcelain excellent in piezoelectric properties and mechanical strength, by adding prescribed quantities of either Al(OH)3 or Al2O3, SiO2 and TiO2 to a basic material represented by a prescribed general formula.
CONSTITUTION: A solid solution, which is represented by a general formula [PbTiO3]A.[PbZrO3]B.[Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3]C.[Pb (Mn1/2Nb1/2)O3]D where 0.30≤A≤ 0.50, 0.30≤B≤0.60, 0.02≤C≤0.30, 0.01≤D≤0.10 and A+B+C+D=1 and in which 15% or less of Pb may be replaced by Sr, is prepared as a basic material. 0.05∼0.55% of Al(OH)3 or Al2O3, 0.5∼0.7% of SiO2 and 0.03∼0.3% of TiO2 are added as accessory constituents to the basic material. For example, the basic material is calcined and then wetly pulverized. The accessory constituents are mixed with the pulverized material. The mixture is calcined and then pulverized. The pulverized grains are shaped under pressure and baked to manufacture a sintered piece for an ultrasonic vibrator.
