Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a movable iron core from colliding with a stationary member and lengthen the life of a magnet, by forming a depression at the tip of a stationary member of an electromagnet, providing a specific relationship between the dimensions of this and a tapered part of the outer surface.
CONSTITUTION: Depression 9, which is to receive cylindrical movable iron core 5, is formed on stationary member 1, and tapered part 15 is formed on the outer surface of depression 9. We set w/W at 0W0.2 and l/L at 0.6W1.0, where the thickness of the iron core in the radial direction at the tip of tapered part 15 of stationary member 1 is represented by w, the thickness at the base part by W, the length of the iron core in the axial direction by l, and the depth of the depression in the axial direction by L. When movable iron core 5 advances to depression 9, the magnetic flux increases at a fixed rate within a fixed range of strokes and the attractive force is made constant. Hence, by setting the current at a fixed value, the force of spring 14 is balanced and iron core 5 is stopped, and thereby collision is prevented and the life is lengthened.
