Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect slips, in the case of concurrence of slips on motors in the same group of an electric car in which plural electric motors are controlled by being divided into plural groups, by utilizing change of current occurring at the time of switching from series connection to parallel connection.
CONSTITUTION: An occurrence of slip in an electric car driving coaches by first group 8 consisting of electric motors M1 and M2 and second group 9 consisting of electric motors M3 and M4, is detected at a slip detecting circuit by a current transformers 30 and 31, resistors 32 through 34 and a relay-exciting coil 35. In case if equal currents flow through armature circuits of the two groups, as voltages occurring in the resistors 32 and 33 are equal, no current flows through the resistor 34, and therefore, no current flows through the relay-exciting coil 35. If there was any difference of current between armature circuits of the first and the second group, slips are supposed to have occurred on motors in one of these 2 groups, a difference of current is caused between the resistors 32 and 33, current passes through the resistor 34 and the relay- exciting coil 35, and therefore, the occurrence of slip is detected.
