Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the speed of TIG welding and improve the quality of welded joint by directing the TIG arc to the right and left alternately in the welding advance direction in a DC TIG welding method using two filler metals, then preheating an unwelding base metal.
CONSTITUTION: In the DC TIG welding, two filler metals 6, 6' are disposed on both sides of a non-consumable electrode 2 with this electrode in-between behind a shield but 5. Here, the DC current of 500A or less whose positive pole is a base metal 1 and negative pole is the non-consumable electrode 2 is flowed, and also the pulsating current of 200A or less whose positive pole is the filler metals 6, 6' and negative pole is the base metal 1 is flowed. The pulsating currents to be flowed to both filler metals 6, 6' are supplied with the respective current supply time Th and non-current-supply time Tl being oppositely corresponded. Hence, weld beads 4 of high quality are formed at high speed.
