Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent cavitation, by providing a pressure chamber and a cylinder adjacently and concentrically to each other in the plug insertion hole of a seat ring and coupling a pistong with the seated part of a plug.
CONSTITUTION: A plug 22 is driven by compressible fluid pressure. A piston 26 is provided on the seated part of the plug and can be removably inserted into a cylinder 25. The resistance to a controlled fluid is maximized until the clearance between the cylinder and the piston becomes larger than that between the seated part and a valve seat. When a valve is opened or closed, the controlled fluid is conducted into the cylinder to apply an instantaneous jumping force to drive the plug by the compres sible fluid. The seated part can thus be quickly moved relatively to the valve seat. This results in effectively suppressing cavitation on the valve seat and protecting the seated part and the valve seat from erosion. Since no erosion takes place, the leakage of the controlled fluid is small and control of higher accuracy can be performed.
