EXAMPLE: 2 - 1' - Methoxy - 1' - benzoylaminomethyl - 4 - benzyloxy - 5, 5- dimethyl-tetrahydrofuran.
USE: Synthetic intermediate of physiologically active substances such as pederin having a useful physiological activity and an activity as a cytotoxin by the ribosome- protein synthesis inhibiting action.
PROCESS: The objective compound I is prepared by (1) reacting 2-[4-(R3)oxy-5, 5-dimethyl-tetrahydropyranyl]-carboxylic acid amide II with trialkyloxonium tetrafluoroborate in an inert solvent, (2) acylating the resulting iminoether III with a carboxylic acid halide to obtain N-acylimino ether IV, and (3) reducing the compound IV.
