Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate a deformation of the filament during the heating treatment and a breakage thereof during the connection process with leads, by carrying out the heating treatment for the filament with filament portions to be connected to internal leads being insulated from heat, and carrying out secondary recrystallization process for the light emitting portion of the filament.
CONSTITUTION: A tungsten filament with core is received in a container, which is made of an electrically conductive material such as high-melting-point tungsten, so that the portions to be connected to internal leads are positioned outside of the container, then the tungsten container is heated in a reducing atmosphere by an electric current, infrared rays, or high-frequency electromagnetic field, etc., to carry out indirect heating treatment through the container wall for the light emitting portion located in the container to form the filament. By carrying out the heating treatment for achieving secondary recrystallization process in this manner, the degree of deformation freedom is decreased, and the deformation during the heating treatment and the breakage during the connection process with the internal leads can be eliminated.
