Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture the title fiber having high ion-exchange rate, and useful as an ion-exchanging material of a compact water-treating apparatus, by introducing an ion-exchanging group to fiber composed of an acrylonitrile-containing copolymer and a vinyl copolymer having epoxy groups capable of being introduced with ion- exchanging group.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture composed of (A) 100 parts by weight of a copolymer consisting of ≥30wt% of acrylonitrile and a vinyl monomer copolymerizable therewith, and (B) 10W150 parts by weight of a homo- or copolymer of a vinyl monomer having an epoxy group which can be introduced with an ion exchanging group, is dissolved in an organic solvent, and spun into fibers. Cation- or anion-exchanging groups are introduced into the fibers thus obtained. The epoxy-containing vinyl monomer is, e.g. glycidyl (meth)acrylate and (meth)acryl glycidyl ether.
