Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain sufficient control performance against complicated shape defects in a simple control system, by adjusting the intermediate roll position, roll bending force, the difference thereof on one side, and screw-down position difference, depending on the deviation between the target value and recognition value of symmetric and asymmetric shape parameters. CONSTITUTION:Intermediate rolls 3, 3' of six-high rolling mill to roll a strip 1 are movable in the axial direction. A shape detecting device 31 measures the elongation in the breadthwise direction of the strip 1 at the exit side of the rolling mill, and transmits the detection signal to a recognition device 32. Here, the shape pattern is expressed by two parameters, symmetrical and asymmetrical, and the deviations from the target value are operated in an arithmetic unit 34. A device 5 computes, in order to adjust the deviation of symmetric components, the optimum operation amounts of the roll bending force and intermediate roll position on the operation side and driving side. A device 6, similarly with respect to asymmetric components, computes the optimum setting change amounts of screw-down position difference of both sides, roll bending force difference, and intermediate roll position difference. These computation values are outputted to respective control devices 41-43, and proper adjustment may be achieved.
