Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate the danger of explosion as with conventional methods and improve the rate of regeneration of metal catalysts to more than 90% by heat- treating the degraded metal catalysts for recombination of oxyhydrogen in inert gas flow without containing hydrogen for 3 hours at the specified temperature.
CONSTITUTION: In regenerating the degraded palladium metal catalysts used for oxyhydrogen recombination device, etc. of atomic power plant, the catalyst layer 12 of a column 11 is heated by a heater 13 to maintain its temperature at the minimum temperature which is lower than the temperature at which the catalyst metal causes sintering and at which the rate of regeneration changing with oxygen density in the inert gas reaches 90%. Said layer is heat treated for 3 hours by introducing nitrogen gas (without containing hydrogen and the less the O2 the better) into the column 11 through a flowmeter 7 from a nitrogen cylinder 1. The temperature of the catalyst layer 12 of this case is kept within a range of 450W600°C. According to this method, the rate of generation of 50% by a conventional hydrogen reduction method is considerably improved and there is no danger for explosion.
