Abstract

PURPOSE: To attenuate electric fields on the ends of corona shielding electroconductive layers in slots, by staggering both the ends of the electroconductive layers so that the axial projection length of the inner part of each layer differs from that of its outer part.
CONSTITUTION: The axial projection length of the inner part of the corona shielding electroconductive layer 5a of an upper coil 2a is made larger than that of the outer part. The axial projection length of the inner part of the corona shielding electroconductive layer 5b for a lower coils 2b is made smaller than that of the outer part. Namely, the ends A1, A2 of the corona shielding electroconductive layer 5a for the upper coil and the ends B1, B2 of the corona shielding electroconductive layer 5b for the lower coil are staggered to each other. Electric field attenuating films 6a, 6b are coated on the upper and lower coils continulusly to the ends of the electroconductive layers 5a, 5b. The electric fields on the ends A1, B1 of the electrocontuctive layers are thus attenuated to prevent corona discharge due to the concentration of the electric fields.
