Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to detect accurately and continuously movement mobility of the positions at tube ends of a steel tube, even if very slight, by arranging a position detection plate in contact with flanks at both ends of the steel tube to be tested.
CONSTITUTION: Detection plates 2 and 3 are provided at fixed positions of head stock 11 and tail stock 10 through operation cylinders 8 and 9. When high pressure water P1 is supplied into steel tube 1, head stock 1 starts moving backward, widening gap 21 between detection plate 2 and tail stock 10 and gap 22 between detection plate 3 and head stock 11. This mobility is detected automatically by position detectors 13 and 12 linked to detection plates 2 and 3 and pressure P2 applied to main cylinder 16 is controlled by servo relief valve 18. Namely, gaps 21 and 22 are decreased when too large or increased when too small by the signal of valve 18.
