Abstract

PURPOSE: To gasify fuel droplets collected in an auxiliary intake path at the time of the cold starting and thus improve the iperation control proerty by providing a distributing valve for controlling the distribution of the air-fuel mixture flowing into both main and auxiliary intake paths and also providing the auxiliary intake path with a heat-generating element.
CONSTITUTION: An auxiliary intake path 36 bypassing a second throttle valve 26 from a main intake path 25 on the upstream side of the second throttle valve 26 and entending to an intake port 7 is defined together with holes 33 and 34, and a rod-like electric heat-generating element 38 is provided within the auxiliary intake path 36. At the time of the start of the engine, at which time the second throttle valve 26 is fully opened, a major porportion of the intake air flows through the main intake path 25 to the intake port 7, while a major proportion of fuel flows in the liquid form from an inlet 37 into the auxiliary intake path 36. The liquid fuel is heated by the electric heat-generating element 38, so that gasification is promoted, and a required quantity of fuel is supplied to a combustion chamber 5.
