Abstract
PURPOSE:To remove desulfurization slag without lowering the yield of hot iron and to keep the iron hot at a low cost by using air-pulverized converter slag after desulfurizing hot iron in a hot iron ladle. CONSTITUTION:Hot iron is received in a hot iron ladle from a blast furnace, and CaC2 as a desulfurizing agent is added to the iron and agitated to desulfurize the iron. Since desulfurization slag formed contains much S and deteriorates the quality of steel owing to resulfurization when fed into a converter together with the hot iron, it is required to remove the slag as thoroughly as possible. In order to remove the slag, air-pulverized converter slag is charged into the ladle aggregate the molten desulfurization slag, and the aggregated slag is removed from the hot iron in the ladle. The surface of the hot iron is convered with the converter slag in place of perlite, chaff or the like to keep the iron hot until it is charged into a converter.
