Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent toner flying and perform good destaticizing by spacing the side plate on one side of a conductive shield plate by a specified distance from the surface of a recording medium so that the electric field formed between the same and recording medium becomes less than 2KV/cm. CONSTITUTION:In the copying apparatus having a photosensitive drum 11, charging device 12, developing and cleaning device 17, transfer device 22, etc., a destaticizer 25 which destaticizes the toner and residual charges remaining on the surface of the photosensitive drum 11 after transfer is provided and the side plate 32a before the moving direction of the drum 11 of its grounded conductive shield plate 32 is spaced by a specified distance d from the rear side plate 32b and in addition arrangement is so made that the electric field formed between the side plate 32 and drum 11 becomes less than 2KV/cm, whereby the deposition of the toner on the shield plate 32 may be reduced.
