Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title stainless steel having cold forgeability and undergoing a little increase in magnetism after cold working by adding C, Si, Mn, P, S, Ni, Cr, Cu and N to iron in a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: The stainless steel consists of C≤0.02%, esp. ≤0.015%, Si≤ 1.00%, Mn 3.00W4.00%, P≤0.040%, S≤0.003%, esp. ≤0.002%, Ni 6.00W 8.00%, Cr 17.00W19.00%, Cu 2.50W4.00%, N 0.04W0.10%, and the balance Fe and inevitable impurities. This steel is melted and can effectively be treated with Al, Ti, Ca, rare earth elements, etc. as auxiliary means for desulfurization and deoxidation. In this invention C and S are restricted to very low contents to enhance the cold forgeability of the steel, and Mn and N adequately added control an increase in magnetism without deteriorating the cold forgeability.
