Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a high reliability charger in a simple constitution without causing uneven charging, by bundling conductive thin fibrous wires into a brush form, and applying a potential to the surface thereof by contacting with photoreceptor. CONSTITUTION:A charger is constituted with a bundle 11 of conductive thin fibrous wires, which is tied by a holder 12 into the form of a brush. A lead wire 13 is connected with the bundle 11 of conductive fibrous wires within the holder 12 so that electric current may be passed in. As the bundle 11 of conductive thin fibrous wires, mostly carbon fibers or stainless steel fibers are used, of which diameter is selected within several microns to scores of microns. When such thin wires are shaped in a brush form and contacted with the surface of a photoreceptor 1, innumerable wires make contact, and electric charge is applied to each one of them, so that potential unevenness never occurs on the surface of the photoreceptor 1.
