Abstract

565,228. Electric cables. BRITISH INSULATED CABLES, Ltd., QUAYLE, J. G., and CHAPMAN, H. B. May 12, 1943, No. 7590. [Class 36] An inductive ignition cable comprises a helical conductor of short pitch around a flexible core containing finely-divided magnetic material. The conductor may consist of wire 2, Fig. 2, insulated with enamel, cellulose triacetate, or varnished glass fibres. The core may consist of iron dispersed in rubber and reinforced by a textile cord 8 carrying magnetic particles. The core may be continuous or divided into beads 9 which may consist of polystyrene with dispersed magnetic material. The wire 2 may be covered by conductive rubber 3, insulating rubber 4, protective material 5 and metallic braid 6. The core may consist of a helical thick textile cord impregnated with a dispersion of iron &c. in a liquid that may be subsequently removed by evaporation. The Provisional Specification states also that the core may consist of a bunch of fine magnetic wires or of a helical wrapping of magnetic tape on a textile and which may contain magnetic material.
